Which statement about atmospheric pressure is false?
a. As air becomes thinner, its density decreases.
b. Air actually has weight.
c. With an increase in altitude, atmospheric pressure increases as well.
d. The warmer the air, the lower the atmospheric pressure.
e. Atmospheric pressure prevents water in lakes, rivers, and oceans from boiling away.
I'd love some help on this question!! Thanks so much! Which statement about atmospheric pressure is false?
The answer is C. C is false. As you increase in altitude, like go up a mountain, the air gets thinner (you're closer to space, the Earth's gravity doesn't hold the atmosphere to the world as well). Basically, there is less air up there, so the pressure is less because there's less weight of air above it pushing down on you. E is actually true, you can boil water at room temperature if you lower the pressure on it enough. Which statement about atmospheric pressure is false?
um seems like c %26amp; d are false ?
c because pressure is higher on the ground than in the sky
d because on the weather forcast you get 'lows' of atmospheric pressure which is usually when the weather is cold
It seems like it has to be E. E is absurd. I hope I'm right! Good luck.
