What are your experiences of having one and how common are they?Have you had a false negative pregnancy test?
cheap or not cheap it doesnt matter... my cousin used the dollar store ones lol cuz shes super cheap and she did it with all 3 kids and they worked perfect.... me on the other hand i always use ept or the other ones and mine always said neg on all 4 of my kids until i was about 2 months already almost 3..... some girls it shows up for ealr and some it doesnt but i never knew why tho but i hated it because it confussed the heck out of meHave you had a false negative pregnancy test?
I got a First Response ';early'; test. You know, the one that says it can detect a pregnancy up to 5 days sooner. I took it 2 or 3 days before my missed period and it was negative. Then on the day of my missed period I took it again and it was positive. It's nearly impossible to get a false positive, but false negs happen a lot more. You should use it in the morning, first thing, because your urine is more concentrated and it will be easier to detect the pregancy hormone. Also I'd suggest waiting until the first day of your missed period, at least, to get an accurate result.
I personally never had a false negative test, but my daughter-in-law had quite a few.
THERE COULD BE VARIOUS REASONS FOR A FALSE TEST RESULT:
Early Detection Attempt
One reason for a false negative pregnancy test could be that you took the test too early. Pregnancy tests vary in their sensitivity which means how soon they can detect the hormone Human Chorionic Gonadotropin (hCG) in your urine. It is possible that although your ovum might be fertilized, meaning you may be pregnant, but your body has not started secreting enough Human Chorionic Gonadotropin (hCG) for the test to measure. Your body needs time for the hormone to rise to a high enough level to be detected in a test.
Erratic Technique
There is a possibility that while using the home pregnancy test strip you either did not dip it well or did not hold it well in your urine stream. This error in technique may give false negative results.
Missed Reaction Time
For accuracy in home pregnancy tests it is essential that you read the test results in the stipulated reaction time. If you let the test sit for too long (after the instructions on the box tell you), the test is invalid. This may cause it to show false negative results.
If the home pregnancy test shows negative results but you still think you could be pregnant, wait a few days and try again. A negative result can mean that you are not pregnant, you took the test too early or you took the test wrong. Also, if you have received different answers on multiple pregnancy tests, it is recommended that you get a blood test done to get an accurate answer.
I had 3 of them this time. I don't know if I was just testing too early or what. I knew deep down I was pregnant, but the first 3 tests I took said I wasn't. I ended up waiting a week and testing again with a digital test this time, and sure enough I was right.
False negatives are common. They can be caused by a few different things. One reason is the person is testing too early. The other reason is they got bad tests. A lot of people rely on tests that come from places like the Dollar Tree. These tests may have problems from the start. Stores like that get their stock from other stores that have had problems with them. The tests may have sat in extreme heat for too long, or may be out of date. You never know. I know I tried one from there again after I had the positive digital one and it still told me I wasn't.
Definitely more common than a false positive.
If you are skipping your period right now, wait a week and retest. I won't be the one to say that either First Response or Answer are the best. They're actually made by the same company and just packaged differently, so there's nothing different about those tests besides the name on the box. If you do choose one of those brands, I'd also try a different brand too so you can compare.
Also, I've known many people that have had positive and honest results from the ';cheap'; dollar store tests.

Good luck!!
i took a test and it came up negative, 2 days later i took another 1, and it came up positive, so took 2 more to be sure, i used the 'first respose' tests, i am 5 weeks pregnant
Go get another test, and wait till u have missed ur period by a couple of days
Good luck
I had 5 negatives with #1 and was pregnant. It was because they were not sensitive enough for HCG detection. Not all tests are the same. The most sensitive tests are:
Answer Early and First Response Early Detection (both detect with as little as 25mUI of HCG hormone while a lot of others take 50-100 to show)
It really depends on what brand you use..
Like a cheap brand it could be very common.
But on the 20$ ones and stuff..They should be rare(ish)
Take another test!
If keep getting neg. and no period. then go to the doc.
Good Luck.
Yes I did about 5 tests after missing my period and then went to the dr's for a blood test and found out I was 7 wks pregnant.
Puzzled me for a while and took me a while to realise I was pregnant!!
I had several before I got a positive. I got negatives the week after my missed period - and I was using the mid-range priced tests.
I've had 4 false negatives. this pregnancy is actually the first time I've had a positive test
I personally have not had one, but I'm sure its common if you take the test too soon. Taking it too soon would mean that your HCG levels were not high enough to detect pregnancy
I got a negative a few days ago, but I still think I am. Take a couple more to be sure.
try taking another test...if you keep getting negatives then you aren't pregnant.
