Let's look at pope Benedict for a while. The leader of the Catholic church is courting Muslims, he is courting liberal Protestants (those who have forgotten why the Protestant church came into being in the first place). He is courting fascists - he can say to them that he used to be a member of the Hitler Youth Movement.





He is now in Israel where he is talking about a two state solution to resolve the Israeli - Palestinian conflict. This is totally against God's plans and is the type of political interference that one would expect from the antichrist. It runs totally contrary to what is written in the Bible in Romans chapter 11 wher it states that God's promises to Israel are irrevocable and God promised the whole land to the Jews.





He claims to be the vicar of Christ. He is (blasphemously) referred to as ';the Holy Father';. He is all things to all men - the Pontiff, a name first given to the Roman Emporor that means 'bridge builder'.





I think this cuirrent pope could well be the antichrist or he could easily be the antichrist's false prophet!
That is a very broad claim to make with no supporting evidence. What ';wrong'; path do you think the Pope is headed down? I have found that if you use the mainstream media as your primary source of information you will not be given the entire truth for the story. They are looking for headline stories by giving partial truths and many times they do not include all of the information someone would need to understand the entire story.





I have been shocked myself by some of the information a news program has provided about a decision that Pope Benedict has made...but after doing my own research into their claim I found that they left out a lot of the facts in order to make the story sound more dramatic.

To this day I have not seen or heard anything that would make me think Pope Benedict has made any poor choices.
No, I don't think so. I also do not agree that the Pope is heading down that path. The Catholic Church does not seek power, it had a lot more power centuries ago, so if anything it has lost worldly power. The Catholic Church seeks to save souls, that is her purpose, to lead the faithful to God.





Jesus said to Peter: ';Peter feed my sheep.'; This is the task of the Church, and the responsibility of the Pope.
No the pope will not be the false prophet you are referring to. The scriptures point to jesus being the antichrist for he said many would come in his name claiming they are he. This is why the name jesus adds up to 616 and why he said he would give his new name. The new name will not be given to us until after his coming since he states in Revelation he has a name written which no one knows but he himself. The image that will be set up is none other than 666 which simply calculates to the crucifix and it will one day be placed where the Dome of the Rock stands. The false prophet is of similar spirit to the beast.
I can think of no one else whom it would please the antichrist to manipulate to that extent.





Not the president of the united states, nor the supreme leader of Iran, but the man who is supposedly God's representative on earth.





Of course, this is assuming the antichrist is hard to please.
Not any more than Martin Luther, Zwingli, John Wesley, Calvin, or any other protestant ';reformer';.





Anti-Catholic sentiment is one of the biggest problems with Protestantism.

The Pope is in place to help keep the Catholic Church on track (leader on earth) and is not power hungry. It was a few hundred years ago, but not any more. The Church now is focused on helping people get to heaven!
